A combination of dance party and workout!
The Moka’mwad collective hosted an unusual Halloween party on 30 October 2020.
The Zumballoween event which took place at Lycée des Mascareignes in Helvétia combined sport and entertainment with the aim of raising funds for the complimentary Zumba classes offered all year long at the Telfair amphitheatre.
The participants enjoyed a special event filled with excitement and inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” under the guidance of Benjamin Lekh, Kursley Jérôme, Pascal Marmite, Reshma Munbodh and Emma Hermelin.
It was thrilling to see them moving along to an electrifying playlist with vampires and zombies!
The evening was an unforgettable, spooky and fun-filled experience for young and old alike. Moka'mwad would like to thank everyone who attended the event. The collective is looking forward to see the newcomers join the free Zumba classes, which are already a great success.
Fun workouts with the Kids Gym!
Twice a week, the Moka’mwad collective has been holding complimentary Kids Gym sessions at the Telfair amphitheatre since 8 September 2020. All 9-13 year olds are welcome on Tuesdays from 4pm to 5pm and 5-8 year olds on Saturdays between 9am and 10.30 am. This initiative aims at encouraging kids to adopt a healthy lifestyle and be physically active from a young age. The sessions led by Sébastien Babakely will contribute to the children’s cognitive, sensory and motor development through fun and playful activities.
