The sports club of Moka takes on a new dimension
Moka Smart City keeps pushing boundaries in the sports field. A new Sports & Leisure Manager, Loïc Lagesse has been appointed in July 2020 to continue its mission to boost the region’s sports appeal in a way that benefits local communities. Major projects include the setting up of brand-new sports infrastructure in Helvétia, which will be available in 2021. A French sports programmer has been commissioned to work in close collaboration with a local architect in order to design an offer that's best suited to the needs of the public.
These new facilities will enable sports in the region to take on a whole new dimension. Some aspects of the project are yet to be finalised, but according to Loïc Lagesse, the facilities offered by this new sports destination will include football pitches, a room for group spinning sessions, a cardio/muscle training room, a heated swimming pool, tennis courts and a host of other activities. Work is due to start in 2021 with an opening scheduled for 2022. Follow us on social media for updates on how the project is progressing!
MTB Moka Rangers League: A series of successful events
The mountain bike league launched this year by
Moka Rangers was a major sporting event of the year. The first round, the Heritage 100km Classic, was held
in February 2020 and extended from Beau Champs
to Bel Ombre. The second round, the XC Marathon
by Velogic, was organised on 19 September and the
third and last one, the Moka XCO in Moka Bike Park, on 21 November. A real treat for thrill-seekers! With more than 100 participants on the starting line of each race, the league has been a great success and has contributed to enhance this sport’s appeal in Mauritius.
