Organisations that support
Moka’mwad
The Moka’mwad citizen collective is able to carry out its activities with the support of volunteers as well as local businesses and organisations. We turn the spotlight on four of them:
KFC
Kentucky Fried Chicken is established in Mauritius since 1983 and headquartered in Gentilly, Moka. An integral
part of the Mauritian fast-
food landscape, the brand is sponsoring the Wednesday BODYATTACKTM classes at the Telfair Amphitheatre for one
year. This energising fitness
class is aimed at beginners
and enthusiasts alike. Athletic movements like running are combined with bending and jumping as well as strength exercises including push-ups and squats. The sessions are led by a certified LES MILLSTM instructor.
Boost it
Produced and distributed by La Trobe, headquartered in Moka right next to Les Kocottes, Boost
it is the first 100% Mauritian juice made with local vegetables and certified Made in Moris. The brand has pledged to support Thursday BODYCOMBATTM classes at the Telfair Amphitheatre
for a year. Participants have complimentary access to a high- intensity martial arts-inspired class led by a certified coach,
Ika De Lacroix. There are no complicated movements to master and these sessions are accessible to everyone.
Indoor Jungle
Indoor Jungle is an interior design specialist that has been supplying eco-friendly hand-painted products and wall creations
since 2019. This year, their team supported a project to enhance three local schooling and childcare facilities through mural paintings. This initiative is aimed at enlivening playground areas while raising awareness of key values among children and staff members of these institutions.
St John Ambulance Mauritius
St John Ambulance Mauritius is
a voluntary organisation that has been active in Mauritius since 1947. It offers various first-aid courses across the island. Since October 2023, the association has been supporting Moka’mwad by offering its expertise in the field of first aid, including through the “Moka’pav sov enn lavi” initiative.
“Such partnerships enable us to develop an increasing number of projects for local residents and fund new activities every year,” says Ketty Lim Ka Lan, Manager – Citizen Collective and Events.
If you also wish to contribute to the social and cultural development of Moka, do not hesitate to lend your support to Moka’mwad!
