Instilling the
joy of learning
through colours
The well-being of the Moka community is the focus of all projects implemented by the Moka’mwad collective. One of them is the enhancement of local schooling and child-care facilities with the support of partners and the people of Moka. Three institutions – Ti Pouce, Saint Pierre RCA and Saint Joseph – underwent a colourful makeover to inspire the joy of learning!
“With the support of Indoor Jungle, one of our loyal partners, we wanted to brighten up the daily lives of children in the area by creating a mural within or at the entrance to these facilities,” says Ketty Lim Ka Lan, Manager – Citizen Collective.
Each mural took a week to complete. The illustrations featured were chosen by each school manager and reflected the institution’s identity.
In order to carry out this project in an environmentally- friendly and collaborative spirit, the Moka’mwad collective collected unused paint from the community. The appeal was launched on social media and a long-standing partnership with Sofap also contributed to bring this wonderful project to life.
La Kocotte
Moka’mwad
Since 2020, La Kocotte Moka’mwad has been a hub of learning activities for the Moka community, offering a diverse programme for everyone.
La Kocotte Moka’mwad is located at Les Kocottes, former poultry houses that have been refurbished to promote interaction and sharing focused on art, education, citizenship and sustainable development among the people of Moka.
Various workshops attract a number of people every week. Activities available include music, floral design and all kinds of dance lessons, including modern bachata, kizomba, cuban salsa with a lot more to come. La Kocotte Moka’mwad also welcomes NGOs for seminars whenever the schedule permits!
25% of the places are reserved to be distributed for free to the Moka’mwad volunteers.
