Christel, Camp Samy
X Christel knows all about Camp Samy after living there for 13 years! This social work enthusiast is in charge of her neighbourhood and is dedicated to its well-being. She regularly organises activities and events to bring people together through her parish or the Spartak group in Moka. “Our neighbourhood has an almost family-like feel that cuts across all cultures,” she says. Christel really enjoys making children happy. It’s second nature to her and she organises workshops, activities and outings to
keep the young people in the neighbourhood busy. “Bringing joy to the residents and seeing them smile, especially the children, is what keeps me going!” P
Nicole, Telfair
X Nicole was born and spent her entire youth in Moka. After a thirty-year spell, she moved back to Telfair, the neighbourhood where she grew up, to provide better support for her mother with Alzheimer’s needs. This is an opportunity for her to devote time to what makes her happy: helping others. “I come from a close-knit family that has always been committed to helping others. That has always remained part of me,” she says. Nicole is always there to lend a hand, whether it be for a blood donation organised by the Moka’mwad collective or
the purchase of food supplies for the most vulnerable families. Her support for Moka’mwad is invaluable! P

Sébastien, Helvétia
X Sébastien has been living in Helvétia for more than a decade and quickly became involved in organising the Neighbours’ Day and other events. “These neighbourly ties make me happy: there is a reassuring sense of mutual support and community,” he says. There is always someone ready to help! His WhatsApp group created in times of lockdown emergency with 30 people now has over 300 participants. It is a
great pleasure for him to live in Moka and the city’s environmental commitment has changed his way of life. “It’s something I like to give back to the city, whether by sorting waste or choosing soft mobility. Moka Smart City allows me to do that!” P
