Additional Internet redundancy in Moka
X Internet redundancy consists of providing various connections to ensure continuity of service. There are two types of redundancy: several providers can use a shared network to serve consumers or offer physical redundancy, i.e. providers have their own networks to avoid any interruption of service.
Moka Smart City can boast of being one of the first in Mauritius to have physical Internet redundancy, thus ensuring a virtually foolproof connection. Two providers initially offered the service though fibre-optic cabling. A third is currently under consideration. P
Quatre Tilapat picks up stray dogs in Moka
X Quatre Tilapat has been supporting animal welfare for 9 years. Moka has called upon them to help control the stray dog population in its various neighbourhoods. Over a dozen of them were brought to the NGO’s sanctuary, which hosts more than 200 dogs, to give them better living conditions.
Moka Smart City supports the initiative by providing financial assistance for transport, food and sterilisation costs. Discussions are underway to create enclosures in the city to take care of the dogs until the NGO takes over. The construction of a larger capacity shelter jointly with other stakeholders in the region is also being considered. P
