Johanna
This energetic woman with a positive attitude lives in the Courchamps neighbourhood. She is continuously coming up with innovative ideas to improve the quality of life in Moka. It was only natural that the Moka’mwad collective approached her in 2019 to help set up the
very first Neighbours’ Day in her area. Johanna immediately took on the role of coordinator and logistics manager for the smooth running and success of the event. She even organised activities to keep the kids busy.
Johanna acts as a liaison between the city and the people living in her neighbourhood but also as an ambassador for Moka. We are confident that we can always rely on her during major events like the Moka Trail,
for which she took charge of looking for volunteers. With her husband and children, she was also present at Bagatelle Mall to make booms following the wreck of MV Wakashio. P

Annick
Annick helped organise the first edition of the Moka Neighbours’ Day at Camp Samy with her husband Jérôme. Both were project leaders for their area. Together, they set up a committee to look for sponsors for giveaways and food products, liaise with the residents, ensure proper coordination and organise activities. Their excellent work has allowed their neighbours to get to know each other in a different way.
Annick is also very involved with her parish.
She greatly contributed to setting up an exhibition for the 250th anniversary of the Saint Pierre Church.
Additionally, she was a volunteer for the Zumballoween event organised by the Moka’mwad collective and helped achieve a high turnout. P

Vishesh
Vishesh offered unwavering assistance during lockdown. He organised the distribution of 10,000+ dairy products within 24 hours with a team of local residents and the support of FoodWise. Despite the special situation associated with COVID-19, Vishesh stepped forward to collect the products from the factory and distribute them to people in the region.
During the sanitary curfew,
he assisted his team in setting up a blood donation operation in conjunction with the Blood Donors Association to meet the blood bank’s urgent needs. P
Kurline
Kurline is a social worker for ENL
This resident of Cité Telfair has always been there
for the deployment of various activities since the inception of the Moka’mwad collective. She has helped the collective in the implementation of a number of projects, such as the cleaning of her area as well as the conduct of awareness sessions on responsible water and energy usage. Kurline also took an active part in the organisation of the Neighbours’ Day at Telfair. P

Thank you for your generous involvement and rigorous work. A special thank you also goes to all those who make things, both big and small, happen in Moka.
