 “Les Petits Futés”
kindergarten is growing
École du Centre - Collège Pierre
Poivre is a private school with a French curriculum. It is part of the AEFE (Agency for French Teaching Abroad) network, founded in 1991. In the early days, there was only the primary school – École du Centre –, then over the years, Collège Pierre Poivre was founded, followed by a secondary school – Lycée des Mascareignes. The latest addition is Les Petits Futés, a kindergarten created in 2011.
Les Petits Futés welcomes children aged 3 to 6. Using methods based on the latest research, the teaching teams nurture the children’s curiosity to give them the pleasure of learning while accommodating each one’s individual pace.
Depending on the time of day, the children work in whole classes, half-classes or small groups. Physical, artistic and cultural activities are offered every day to help them
develop their full potential. These include workshops on sustainable development to raise the children’s awareness of environmental citizenship.
The school also has a British international section from nursery school onwards to give pupils a natural introduction
to bilingualism from an early age. These classes are taught by native English-speaking teachers. Each class at Les Petits Futés is taught by the class teacher, an English teacher and a child minder.
The kindergarten has decided to expand its premises. There are now two separate wings, with the young and middle sections on one side and the older
sections on the other. Additional rooms have been designed to accommodate English classes in small groups, as well as a training area and a library. There is also
a large covered area for physical activities, in addition to the existing facilities.
This extension confirms the importance attached by Les Petits Futés to the well-being of its pupils.
