Challenge accepted!
Pop TV hosts and their teams took up the challenge to set out to discover Moka through a fun-filled treasure hunt! Two teams of two had to outpace their opponents to win this four-round online show freely inspired by the famous game show, Pekin Express. Let’s find out more.
In November 2021, fans of Vincent Duvergé and his team at Pop TV - and more generally all treasure hunt enthusiasts – were happy to discover a new show:
Moka Express. This unusual orienteering experience in the spirit of the reality game show, Pekin Express, was shot in Moka in September 2021 through a partnership between the smart city and Pop TV. This web TV based in Moka is a true entertainment platform created by the well-known Mauritian comedian, Vincent Duvergé. The channel was launched in late 2020 and has since been a hit with more than 80,000 followers on Facebook and over 39,000 subscribers on YouTube!
Moka Express was a crazy race during which two teams of two competed
in highly original and stimulating challenges. Each team was composed of a member of Pop TV (Vincent Duvergé and Lydia None) and a participant selected through video casting on social networks (Corélie Collet and Vincent L’Indolent). In each episode, host Sheryl Smith explained the challenges the two duos had to face. Many
of them highlighted in a playful way the city’s key strengths (sustainable development, a rich variety of leisure services, growing commercial operations, etc.). The teams had to use e-scooters to get around, correctly sort waste into a bin to be given access to
a riddle or take part in an event at Bagatelle Mall.
To spice the whole thing
up even more, the losing team in each round was given a penalty in the following round: it had to wait 30 seconds after the other team to start the next challenge – that delay sometimes made a big difference! But it was out
of question to give up along the way, because there was a wonderful reward waiting for the winners: 2 two- night all-inclusive stays at Shandrani Beachcomber Resorts & Spa. A taste of comfort after the effort!
