Closer to the people of Moka
X The project is aimed at bringing about lasting progress for the beneficiaries and has expanded to a national level in 2015 as a private-public sector partnership under the aegis of Business Mauritius. They now have a multidisciplinary team of 50 social workers covering the nine districts of Mauritius.
“We have been supported by ENL for a number of years now. This has enabled us to move to Moka, and now relocate to Les Kocottes to improve our networking by strengthening our work on the ground. For the team in Moka, Les Kocottes is a place open to the community that makes us more accessible to our beneficiaries in the Moka-Saint Pierre region,” says Lovebridge’s Chief Serving Officer, Priscille Noël.
Other NGOs that carry out complementary activities like TIPA and FoodWise are also established at Les Kocottes. This presents a great opportunity for cooperation and synergy that may generate new projects. P
6 pillars for empowerment
X The aim of the NGO is to support vulnerable people. The guiding principle is to elevate and develop the potential of their beneficiaries to help them become more independent.
Lovebridge provides many families with comprehensive support, including children’s education, decent housing, employability/income, nutrition, physical and emotional health and motivation. This support allows them to find the tools for their future success and learn how to use them under the benevolent eye of the teams.
Clémence is a mother and grandmother. “The Lovebridge team has been taking care of us for the past four years. I remember how we were struggling financially. Three of our five children were in school
at the time and we were earning low wages. Lovebridge contributed financially to our children’s schooling, but also to refurbish our house, among other things. Now I have a better job, my daughter is working and going to university, and I have found new courage and motivation. We have regained our financial independence and peace of mind
for quite some time now. This is truly the greatest gift a person can receive!” she says, looking back on her experience with the NGO.
As at end of December 2020, Lovebridge had supported over 700 families. This year, they have chosen to focus special attention on education. It is a way to help today’s generation lay the path to success for the future generation. P
