The virus threat, lockdown and limited access to necessities did not affect the tremendous spirit of solidarity displayed by the people of Moka. Throwback to some heart-warming initiatives.
Raising awareness against COVID-19 in Moka Smart City
X Moka Smart City was very responsive in dealing with the pandemic that hit the country since the beginning of the year. All events and sports activities were cancelled well before lockdown.
Moka Smart City and the Moka’mwad citizen collective ran campaigns on their social media, their website and the city’s billboards to raise awareness about the preventive steps to be taken and emergency measures among the largest possible number of citizens. P

advice from Mauritian experts on how to create their own vegetable garden, deal with their children in these unprecedented times as well as posts on ways to keep fit during lockdown. Recommendations on activities to avoid boredom were gathered and shared in the “Lockdown: What’s on” section of the moka.mu website. Useful tips and ideas included videos published by the Komiko troupe that provided some laughter therapy, virtual Zumba and yoga classes to refresh the spirit, the cooking show, “Fer Goute” and workouts. Every effort was made for a better lockdown experience!
