Who is the training aimed at?
This mountain bike lessons are designed for young beginner and intermediate riders aged 8 to 12 years old. There is no need to be a great athlete, a love for cycling and the ability to pedal on their own are enough.
What do you need to know?
Until 19 December 2019, lessons will take place on Thursdays from 4:00pm to 5:30pm at the Moka Bike Park. The next ‘season’ will run from January to March 2020. The training costs Rs 800 per month, with a minimum commitment of three months.

Yannick Lincoln is currently billed as the best mountain biker in Mauritius and recently won two medals at the Indian Ocean Island Games. Guy L’Espérance and Thierry Lindor have both been competitive cyclists in their youth. Guy has been in charge of the development of a cycling school in Mauritius for years. He is praised by his colleagues for his incredible patience – “A world record,” they say. Since the creation of the Moka Bike Park, Thierry has designed various modules and knows them better than anyone. He also has an excellent technical background and is in charge of the Downhill (DH) section of Moka Rangers Sports Club.
How does the training take place?
The training consists of a little warm-up, a little theory… and a lot fun!
Why mountain biking?
Mountain biking allows you to spend time outdoors and is a thrilled-packed activity that will fill up your energy and inspire you to take time for yourself. This sport thus provides an opportunity to both exercise and relax in an excellent atmosphere! A welcome break for children after spending long hours at school. What Yannick Lincoln enjoys most is “The connection with nature and the sense of freedom, but also the technical and physical aspects.” Mountain biking is actually an all-round sport: it not only helps tone the leg muscles, but also engages all muscles of the body.
Is the children’s safety at stake?
It’s an issue for all protective mothers. Rest assured that the coaches adjust the modules and play according to the different levels. However, there’s always little bumps and bruises, which are part of mountain bike training!
