Mauritius is ranked first in Africa in the 2019 Doing Business report. The country promotes entrepreneurship and attracts a growing number of investors from around the world. Co-working spaces offer various advantages to all these new entrepreneurs.
It’s no secret that co-working is booming. What was a niche market just a few years ago has rapidly grown globally. Such spaces are developing in Mauritius as well to meet an ever-increasing need. The typical profile of the co-worker has also changed significantly. Originally, co-working enthusiasts were mainly self-employed or start-up businesses. The target market has greatly expanded owing to the various advantages offered by such spaces.
You are no longer on your own…
Mauritius aims to become the strategic crossroads between Africa, Asia and Europe. Bringing talent to the country has never been easier but once the permit is issued, it is essential to rapidly build up a network of business contacts. Located in the heart of the island, co-working spaces such as the Turbine and The Hive foster this spirit of sharing. People can easily meet, interact, develop partnerships and grow their business with confidence.
A strategic location in the centre of the island
The Turbine is situated in the very centre of the Moka Smart City. It is above all a wonderful co-working space, but that is not all. It is also a business incubator-accelerator with a host of tailor-made solutions to help the success of your project, including specific support, financing solutions and free training workshops. The Turbine also forms part of Vivéa Business Park, which has tremendous facilities such as the Ti Pouce nursery and The Pod’s brand new cafeteria, a privileged meeting place that will be available in the coming weeks.
The Turbine is primarily a facility where more than 1,500 people work together on a daily basis, offering many opportunities for networking. “More than just a co-working space, the Turbine is a great place for interaction with the opportunity to be part of a professional community where people can learn a lot from one another,” says the Community Associate, Shubhda Gujadhur.

Initially based at Saint Pierre, next to Vivéa Business Park, The Hive has expanded and now has offices in Tamarin, Curepipe and Port Louis. “We opened the co-working space at Saint Pierre in 2016. After a slow start, we are witnessing a growing community of entrepreneurs in Mauritius who are looking for flexible places to work that allow for creativity and are easily accessible. We also provide some small private offices that are very popular with start-ups,” says The Hive’s Workplace and Community Manager, Daphné Rouillard.

Ultimately, these connected spaces allow freelancers and self-employed entrepreneurs to grow their business in an enabling environment. Meeting rooms, conference rooms, partitioned or open-space offices and a cafeteria, of course, have all been designed to provide a pleasant working environment as well as a place to meet and interact with other professionals.
