Both amateur and professional mountain bikers can now indulge their passion, as well as practise and train in optimal conditions with this new playground.
This 8,000m² training area has been set up according to internationally accepted standards. The tracks available are suitable for the practice of all mountain biking disciplines (XCO, BMX, Dirt, DH, Enduro, etc.) and the trails cater to all levels in order to help riders improve while having fun at the same time!
Open to all from dawn till dusk every day from Monday to Sunday, “The objective of this facility is to broaden the sports and leisure offer of the Moka Smart City as well as provide a training tool for the mountain biking section of the Moka Rangers Sports Club. The aim is to continuously improve the quality of life of the people who live and work in the region through providing infrastructure such as the Synergy Sport & Wellness Institute, the existing cycle paths in the Telfair area or even the Moka Trail tracks, which are open to the public year-round. Construction work on the infrastructure at an estimated cost of more than Rs 1 million started in January,” said the CEO of ENL Property Ltd, Johan Pilot.
Several companies have contributed to making this project a reality by donating the equipment and machines required as well as offering their time, expertise and skills. “This Bike Park has become a reality with the support of various sponsors, including the Ministry of Tourism through the Mauritius Tourism Authority, which has generously provided us with its human and material resources. We are confident that this new playground will contribute to promoting mountain biking as a sports activity in Mauritius. Through the Moka Rangers Sports Club, we want to reach out to the largest possible audience by introducing younger athletes to the sport and offering the opportunity for advanced training for the more experienced riders,” said Yannick Lincoln, who is responsible for cycling and mountain biking at the Moka Rangers Sports Club.
