99 117 hours, or 11.5 years – according to French statistics, this is the average time spent at work over the course of one’s life… Which is why it’s important to have a job you like, of course, but also to work in a pleasant and adequate environment.
By the way, did you know Moka has just this in store?
“Moka, le Coeur de l’île” couldn’t have been more fittingly named. Indeed, Moka is particularly well located and enjoys excellent accessibility through two surrounding motorways. With the opening of the Terre Rouge-Verdun-Ebene motorway in 2013, Moka now offers a quick access to the north coast and has positioned itself more than ever at the heart of the island. Both entry and exit are relatively easy from Moka without having to go through the traffic jam that other regions regularly complain of.
What’s more, the weather is pleasant during all the year.
Everything at your fingertips…and more!
Working in Moka, also means being close to the daily conveniences like nurseries for your little ones, schools for the grown ones, a supermarket where you can buy your groceries on your way back home and even a sports center where you can peacefully recharge your batteries at lunch time, before or after work. You don’t have enought time to prepare your lunch box ? Don’t worry, Moka is full of good neighborhood spots for everybody’s means.
Over the past decade, Moka has been developed according to an urban planning strategy to provide high quality of life to its inhabitants. Green spaces, such as those we can see at Telfair, has been steadily increasing, while more and more facilities are being designed for people traveling by foot or bike, so as to make inner-city traffic more fluid and more respectful of the environment. These developments will continue to improve thanks to Moka Smart City project.
Economic and innovation hub
Moka is fast becoming the main economic hub of the island. A number of companies already chose Vivéa Business Park to host their offices (an old sugar cane factory converted into a business park) and before the end of the year, PwC will moved its headquarters to Telfair.
More than a workplace providing a pleasant environment and enduring economic opportunities, Moka is clearly ahead of its time. It was indeed the first city in Mauritius to host a start-up incubator and a co-working space (Turbine), as well as being the first to build functional indoor football fields, now widely used and appreciated. Other previously unseen initiatives include launching a town-size art festival (the Moka Art Festival), and a citizen collective called Moka’mwad…
