Queensy was born in Dagotière, not far from Moka. She is now 28 and lives with her husband in Vacoas. After studying at the Ambassador College in Curepipe, she got her first job at the Tropic Knits Factory, where she worked as Quality Controller. She took her first steps in the food industry as she started working in a pizza place at the former Phoenix Les Halles Commercial Centre.
When she heard about a job vacancy at Moka’z in 2012, Queensy decided to take a chance at the trendy coffee bar located in Les Allées d’Helvétia. Hired as a waitress, she took a week of training at the Ocean Basket restaurant in Bagatelle to learn the craft. Two years later, she was assigned the supervision of the cash register – which proves how much her employers trusts her. The adventure goes on: in 2016, she was promoted to Supervisor of Moka’z.
Today, Queensy manages a team of four people. Her work day usually starts at 7 a.m. or at 10 a.m. when it is a late shift. Her morning duties include checking the cash, setting up the tables and bar, displaying fruit and cakes, setting the coffee machine… Just before lunch service, she calls a meeting with the team to make sure everyone knows their part and stays motivated.
Her motto is to remain calm, keep smiling and be nice. That is how she gets the best from herself and from others. What Queensy loves the most about her job is to be in contact with people. She knows all her customers, from students to businessmen. Peak hours never scare her: the busier it gets, the greater the number of covers and the happier she is!
Queensy enjoys working in Moka for various reasons: she has only a short distance to walk from the bus stop to Moka’z, with gentle temperatures in summer (which is much appreciable when you spend most of your days running around the place) adding to the pleasant atmosphere of the town and the good relationships with colleagues and customers. When she is not working hard to please her customers, Queensy enjoys spending time at the beach or doing sports.
