Bagatelle Commercial has been luring a growing number of businesses in large part due to its ideal location, in close proximity to the hotspots of the island. To date, fifteen serviced and undeveloped lands have been sold, and two commercial buildings, owned by Island Living and Happy House, have been operational since last year.

2018 was a pivotal year that saw new projects spring up and numerous concrete developments come to fruition. Amongst these, the Bagatelle district has been drawing an increasing number of trading companies.

A strategic location
Bagatelle Commercial, located west of the highway—where Motor City is currently situated—has quickly taken shape and is attracting a growing number of businesses. A road network and relevant services have been implemented to ensure the smooth establishment of new companies. Strategically located within close proximity to the island’s business hub, this zone enjoys favorable accessibility and visibility of the highway, as well as instant access to Bagatelle Mall, which attracts no less than 700,000 visitors each month.

“Today, Island Living Group presides over 12 brands and several new ventures like Seeloy Island Club, Racing Republic, Le Chamarel Restaurant, Heritage Nature Reserve, La Terre des 7 Couleurs, Domino’s Pizza or even Kaz’alala Hosted B&B. We needed more space, at more competitive prices, to be able to accommodate our growing workforce. In fact, this relocation has enabled us to set up a hub that combines our storage, procurement and distribution activities, allowing us to achieve economies of scale”,
explains Richard Stedman, the Group’s CEO

Amongst other retailers, Sensoria, Lovely Home, Pro-Design and Young Bros—whose premises will surface over the next few years—have already set up shop.

A vision for the future

The development of this commercial zone, an integral part of Moka Smart City, reflects ENL’s commitment to diversify the city’s economic activities, with the aim of generating employment and revitalising the region.

Moka’s development began well over 10 years ago, receiving its Smart City certification in 2017. Since then, Moka Smart City has pursued a responsible and sustainable development agenda following the principles of integrated urban development, which will further stimulate the establishment of new businesses in the locality.
