Lend Ripple a hand in its fight against menstrual insecurity this October. The collective citizen Moka'mwad and Oficea are joining forces with the association to collect feminine hygiene products until the 30th of October 2023. How will the collection work? Let us explain.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month shines a spotlight on issues around women’s health, and makes this is an ideal time to collect donations of hygiene products to help women in difficult situations.
“This initiative is part of the Moka’mwad’s drive to build a stronger and more supportive community by offering women in vulnerable situations tangible support,” says Ketty Lim Ka Lan, Director of the citizen collective Moka’mwad. 

 

How does it work ?

Ripple collects the products, which are then packaged and distributed via local NGOs to recipients they are already working with. The NGO’s ensure that donations make a difference to recipients’ health, giving them all the necessary information, which Ripple supplies in advance. Any cash donations will help to ensure the supply of products for this cause in the longer term.

Going beyond the clichés

Did you know that menstrual insecurity can affect women who have a home, or even those who are part of the workforce? Ripple will accept donations of a wider range of products, including sustainable options such as menstrual cups and panties. “A growing number of women from all walks of life lack access to these essential products. We see women in the most deprived circumstances as well as working women who struggle to make ends meet,” explains Djemillah Mourade-Peerbux, Ripple’s Director. 
Inflation affects everyone – from the most vulnerable to those who have never had this issue before, but are now forced to prioritise more pressing needs such as the cost of getting to work, or even food. Ripple accounts for the very different profiles of the beneficiaries as they organise the distribution of products, considering a wide range of factors, from access to running water to living arrangements.

“Joining forces with Moka’mwad and Oficea expands the scope of this campaign. Companies and other organisations in the region send their ambassadors to us, and we explain to them the aim of the campaign. They then collect funds and products from their organisations, which we receive with gratitude,“ Djemillah tells us.
