Bring on the 5th of August! Discover just how much work goes into an event of this scale as we take a closer look at how the Smart City teams from Moka and Decathlon work together to ensure that the event runs smoothly, and that runners are safe and entertained.

This second edition provides us with an opportunity to collaborate again with our Decathlon counterparts. The Moka Smart City team is responsible for several key aspects of the organisation of this event. First, the entertainment, because we are keen to offer runners a unique sporting experience on the course, and a lively atmosphere in the race village for supporters,” says Ketty Lim Ka Lan, Events Manager for Moka Smart City. However, the event manager also has other aspects crucial to the success of the event to consider.

Safety and Security

An urban race means running on pavements, and a night race means being extra vigilant… The organisers have thought of everything, freeing the participants to concentrate on what’s most important: enjoying this great sporting event. “These aspects of the organisation are probably the most important, because they provide a safe sporting environment that gives runners confidence. Our team is responsible for organising the emergency services, in collaboration with the Procare team, under the leadership of the race’s medical director, Dr Bernard Piat“, Ketty tells us.

Decathlon, as co-organiser of this event, is responsible for supervising the runners. “Our role is to take care of the Race Marshals and the police to ensure that the runners stay on the course, and for another essential aspect of this race, which has to do with traffic. Runners can rest assured that every measure is being taken to ensure they have a moment of pure sporting pleasure,” explains Yannick Doger de Spéville, Decathlon’s Commerce & Development Leader.

Onwards and upwards, night owls!

This race, which will bring together over 1,500 runners, has plenty of surprises in store. Yannick is happy to reveal some of them to whet participants’ appetites: Decathlon t-shirts and goodies, as well as gifts from sponsors in the participants’ race packs. What’s new this year? A prize draw that will give runners the chance to win prizes… even if they don’t make it to the podium!

We’re delighted to be working with Moka Smart City. This event, which is open to everyone, is in line with Decathlon’s philosophy. We would also like to thank our sponsors for their loyalty, which has enabled us to make this annual event even better,” he concludes.
