The Moka Trail will be back in full swing on Saturday 5 October 2019. This 7th edition once again promises to be full of fun and new challenges!

The Moka Trail has become an essential sporting event since 2013 – and rightly so! The only trail run taking place in the centre of the island offers a unique opportunity to explore the stunning surroundings of Moka with breathtaking mountain views and nice hiking trails.

More than 2,000 trail running enthusiasts entered the event last year to indulge their passion, connect with nature and push their limits. This year, the Moka Trail will return with two exciting new races: a 7km route and a 3.5km run for children.

Kids Fun Run

The major innovation this year will be the 3.5km race for children aged 6 to 11 years old. It is a perfect introduction to trail running and an enjoyable walk for families that just want to have a good time together. The race’s trails weave through unspoilt nature and sugarcane fields. Whether they want to run the race or take time to immerse themselves in the surrounding landscapes, participating kids can complete the event at their own pace!

Les Deux Mamelles

Formerly the Fun Jog, the Moka Trail’s most popular distance has been turned into a 7km race and renamed. This year, participants will run on different types of terrain, including technical uphill and downhill sections and breathtaking landscapes. Passing through sugarcane fields, you will reach the foothills of the stunning Deux Mamelles Mountain and take a single-track trail into the heart of a beautiful forest. You’re going to love this new route! This race requires good physical fitness and is accessible to intermediate-level runners.

Le Petit Both

This 14km race will take you on a hilly route leading to a pass between two of the island’s most iconic mountains, Le Pouce and Pieter Both. You will then work your way through valleys to reach the top of Deux Mamelles Mountain, and then the famous Malenga stairs. The final section includes a downhill run across sugarcane fields towards the finish line at the race village in La Laura. A challenging yet inspiring route!

Le Grand Pouce

This 28km race designed for seasoned trail runners is the Moka Trail’s longest and most technical course. You will traverse steep and rugged terrain from La Laura to the foothills of Le Pouce Mountain before going down a steep rocky downhill section. The Malenga stairs will be a tough climb and you will cross sugarcane fields to reach the finish line at La Laura. Get ready for a race that will be a litmus test for your endurance and motivation!

The Moka Trail is both a unique sporting experience and a fantastic human adventure. You have until 11 September 2019 to register for this exciting event. Visit our page Moka Trail !
