This race is above all the outcome of a successful collaboration between Moka Smart City and Decathlon. It brings together the enthusiasm and passion of both teams to create a great moment of sport. The co-organisers have met regularly to share ideas and surpass themselves together for this event, which is much more than a mere race.

Co-creating an event for athletes from all backgrounds

After a prolonged interruption of various activities due to the challenging health situation, the Moka Decathlon Night Run marks the resumption of events in Moka Smart City. The Manager of the Moka’mwad citizen collective and events taking place in the city, Ketty Lim Ka Lan was looking forward to such team efforts. “It’s a great joy to be able to welcome again 1,000 people in the same place and finally meet again without restrictions!” she says

The Decathlon team is equally enthused – and rightly so! “The Moka Decathlon Night Run is our first major event,” says the Leader Digital Marketing, Elisa Colimalay. “We consulted with our colleagues from Moka Smart City and experts from the trail running community like Yannick Doger de Spéville have helped us make this race a success.” A whole bunch of sports enthusiasts have teamed up to embrace the new normal in a dynamic and positive way.

A unique experience of Moka

“Participants must prepare themselves for some wonderful surprises,” says Elisa Colimalay with a smile. “We have thought of everything to make the race a memorable moment, including sweat-absorbent T-shirts in the race pack, a great post-race party with music and the course itself! For more information, follow us on our social media platforms and most importantly, join us in the evening of 6 August!”

This 10km run is a great distance for runners of all levels and is open to all participants from the age of 12. The course is relatively simple with a little uneven terrain and has been specially laid out to accommodate as many athletes as possible in the fun-filled, family spirit of Decathlon, she adds.

The course designed by Moka Rangers Sports Club’ Head of Running and the Moka Trail’s sports manager, Percy Driver, offers beautiful sights. Runners will pass through Moka’s landmarks such as La Promenade, the Decathlon store and the new flyover before finishing off the race in style at Telfair.

Fabulous prizes at stake

The prospect of running under the stars in Moka is a great motivation and the event sponsors have also put up some very attractive prizes for the top runners from each category. The winners will receive gift vouchers from Decathlon, as well as a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 offered by one of the events partners.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the event sponsors for making the Moka Decathlon Night Run possible. Thanks to all categories of sponsors: Platinum ENL and Accenture; Gold Bank One and PBL; Silver Oficea and Galaxy; Bronze Helios Eyewear and Sis; and Branded Mokaz, Edendale, Dominos Pizza, PNL and Grays Inc., says Ketty Lim Ka Lan.
