Vinod Goonmeter has been living in Moka since birth and currently contributes actively to the development of his beloved city. Read about ENL Property’s Development Manager.

Why did you join the ENL Property team?

Proximity (I live in Moka) was a key factor influencing my decision to join the ENL Property team 8 years ago: being close to my workplace allows me to spend more time with my family. My office, the work sites under my supervision, the school and shops are all in the same place.

So you live and work in Moka. How does it feel to be a beneficiary as well as an agent of change through the work that you do?

It is a tremendous opportunity for me to work on the transformation of Moka, the place where I have lived since birth. I feel a mixed sense of pride and humility to be actively involved in this development. It is a privilege that I never tire of to see the various projects, including Les Allées d’Helvétia, Les Promenades d’Helvétia and Vivéa Business Park become a reality and contribute to Moka’s unique and vibrant atmosphere.

What does your job at ENL Property involve?

I am in charge of infrastructure development across Moka. This includes road network implementation, water and electricity supply, sewage work, lighting and especially landscaping.

What is your favourite part of your job?

Everything! Planning and transforming land into products that meet our clients’ expectations while maintaining sustainability is a source of great satisfaction. It is also exciting to address the challenges faced throughout the projects.

What new projects are you working on?

There are several projects underway, including the revitalization of the small houses at Les Kocottes and the enlargement and embellishment of La Promenade at Helvétia. On the residential side, we have phase 1 of Les Berges de Courchamps, a residential morcellement with about 100 lots, is under construction and phase 2 will soon begin. Also, the Bagatelle Hills project, a residential morcellement of 17 lots will soon be underway.

The first phase of infrastructure work in the (residential and commercial) neighbourhood of L’Avenir covering about 100 acres will additionally start very soon. We are also working with the public authorities on major drainage work to address flooding issues. The development of L’Avenir will therefore contribute significantly to better rainwater management in the region.

Besides improving the quality of life that residents enjoy, this project will enhance drinking water production and distribution in the region. ENL will actually work with the CWA to use its water rights on a nearby river in order to provide drinking water to the neighbourhood and surrounding areas.

Finally, a number of projects are underway to improve traffic flow, including a second bridge over M1 motorway. We also plan to launch major infrastructure work in our future city centre.
